Xeno's Bookshelf now brings you:
Jinn 93x Archives "How many are there of you?" I asked Unk. "Our numbers vary, but right now it stands at approximately seventy," he replied. "And how many of the Meedree are there?" I continued. "There are close to one thousand of the Masters of the Walking, Waking Men," he responded. "Can you take us back to the village where my female friend is being held?" I questioned Unk. "No, for I only have a sense of direction and order when drugged. May I have food now?" he asked childishly. "Yes, Brok, give Unk food and water," I directed. I went to check on Ronic's condition and found him reclining under a shade tree. "How are you?" I asked. "I'll be fine. Did you learn of Dezz's location from Unk?" Ronic questioned. "No, he states that he only had an understanding of his surroundings and the way back to the village when he was drugged," I explained. "That's too bad for Dezz," Ronic intoned. "Yes, and worse, time is running out before she is delivered up to be mated with the tribal leaders," I replied. "That is a shame. Isn't there anything we can do?" He asked. "I was hoping you might have an idea, Ronic," I answered. "Unfortunately, I'm not thinking very well after being shot with the drugged dart. I wish I could help," he said sincerely. "Perhaps you can. Is your visor equipped with magnetic and thermal engineering?" I asked. "Yes, why?" he queried. "Could the sensors be routed to the bottom of the Rider so that we might get an image of footprints and people?" I asked. "Yes, that would be fairly easy, why?" he asked. "Since upgrading the Rider with the technology at the Rand, it is now able to float at higher levels and if we can scan thermally and magnetically, we might be able to locate the footprints of, and possibly even the Meedree themselves," I explained. "I'll begin working on it immediately, but how will we pick out Dezz from the other humans around?" he asked. "Hopefully Dezz is still carrying a necklace that I saw Delch give her when we were at the Rand," I answered. "I don't know if our sensors can pick out a necklace, Brax," Ronic explained. "The necklace contained diaframman. Our Rider reacted to a quantity of diaframman, couldn't we adjust the sensors to identify diaframman in smaller quantities?" I asked hopefully. "I'll see what can be done, Brax, I know that this means a lot to you and to our group, so I'll just have to make it work!" he exclaimed. "Thanks Ronic!" I patted him on his shoulder and turned to check on the others. I couldn't help but think about how difficult the mission to get to Shara had turned into! I wondered if we would ever really get there! My guess was that we were still hundreds of miles away from the location where she was being held. Was she still alive? Was she even there? These were questions I had avoided, generally because my mind was consumed in the here and now with its plethora of problems. The main focus of my attention mow was to rescue Dezz from the Meedree!
